Geoffrey Atte Wode and Anisia

Geoffrey Atte Wode was a Serjeant-at-Arms to Edward III. (S2).

By 1345, King Edward III had enrolled a vast army and made his invasion of France, which was part of the Hundred Years' War. Geoffrey enrolled in the army, as well as his father and brothers, and was killed in the Battle of Crecy on 26 August 1346; at Crecy-en-Ponthieu, Picardie, France. (S1).

The Battle of Crecy took place on 26 August 1346 near Crecy in northern France. It was one of the most important battles of the Hundred Years' War, because of the combination of new weapons and tactics used. This made Edward III's army powerful, even when outnumbered by the French forces. It was a major victory for the English. (S2).
