EOCHAIDH mac Duach

EOCHAIDH. (Eochaid Buaidhaig mac Duach-S1)()Eochu Buadach-S3)(Eochaid Buaidhaig (Buailgllerg) Mac Duach-S2). [Ancestors].
Son of DUACH (Duí Ladrach mac Fiachach)(Duach II Laghrach )(Dui Ladrach-S3), King of Ireland.

Eochu Buadach, son of Dui Ladrach, according to some redactions or versions of Lebor Gabála Érenn, was a High King of Ireland. But he is not included as a High King in other versions of the story. He was the father of two High Kings of Ireland, Ugaine Mor, and Bodbchad. (S3).

He was kept out of the Monarchy by his father's slayer. (S1, S2).

According to the R. A. Stewart Macalister translation of Lebor Gabála Érenn, part 5, page 265, its says;
Thereafter the princedom of Ulaid was sundered from Temair, andEochu Buadach s. Dui took the kingship of Ireland—the father of UgoineMór, who was foster-son to Cimbaeth s. Finntan. (S3)

Macalister says this is an abstract from the Roll of the Kings from Oengus Olmucach to Cimbáeth, appended to the Second Redaction (R²). Macalister describes the text as an Emain Macha interpolation. However Macalister does not include Eochu Buadach as a High King in his main List of High Kings of Ireland. (S3).

If Eochu Buadach was a High King of Ireland for any period of time, his reign would have been near the end of the reign of Cimbáeth, and his reign ended in 661 BC, according to the Annals of the Four Masters timeline. (S3).

He is said (S1,S2) to have married Tama Tephi, daughter of Zedekiah, King of Judah. If the quote above from Macalister is correct, that Ugaine Mór was foster-son to Cimbaeth s. Finntan, then it is possible that his mother was Tama. The guess is that he was made a foster son to Cimbaeth after the deaths of Eochaidh and Tama. However, if such a connection were correct, it seems most interesting that it would not be mentioned even briefly in the annals.

In his time the kingdom was twice visited with a plague. (S1, S2).

Place of Burial: Cruachan, Ireland. (S1, S2).

Tama Tephi. (Tamar Tephi ha-David-S1, S2).
